"I inquired about a trip to introduce my two grand daughters (9 and 5) to fishing. Ben suggested a trip for rock bass on Crystal Lake. It was a terrific introduction for the two of them. They stared catching them on the first line drops. Great setting, beautiful lake and lots of bites. My grand daughters will be talking about this trip for a long time. Me too. Ben was great with the girls."

"My son and I went fishing for coho salmon with Wolfe Outfitters several days ago. My son has always wanted to go salmon fishing with me because I would tell him stories of the salmon that I had caught years ago in northern Michigan. He was very interested in doing a trip with me to Michigan to fish for salmon. My son and wife made plans as a Christmas gift to me this year to go fishing. They had found Wolfe Outfitters online as a charter. It was the first time I have ever done anything like this before, and I'm glad we did because it was the best experience I've had in years of fishing. We actually had 2 guides the day we fished--Capt. Ben Wolfe and Capt. Jeff Mallory, both great guys! We did indeed catch coho salmon that day and the look on my sons face was priceless. Thank you Ben and Jeff! We will definitely be back along with my brother-in-law and nephew next time."

"My 12-year-old son and I had a fantastic time catching pike with Wolfe Outfitters! The guide picked us up at the hotel, provided us a fantastic lunch (and cookies for my son!) and worked hard in the Summer heat to help us hook up with a number of large fish! We won't forget the experience any time soon--thanks, we'll be back again soon!"

"I haven't fished the Manistee River in more than a decade. Decided to book a trip on February 22, 2013 with my 23 yr. old son who has never fished for Steelhead, or even experienced the majestic Manistee River. The morning started out about 21 degrees F and heavy snow. Needless to say, the river and its bank were an awesome sight with the blanket of fresh white. River conditions were tough with frequent winds tunneling through portions of the river. But my son and I are late season duck hunters so we had the gear to fend off the cold. Our captain that day was Chris. What a great trip! My son caught and landed his first Steelhead, so that in itself made the day a smashing success. Captain Chris served us a shore lunch that would put any cruise line to shame and his stories and laid back manner made this father and son trip a memory that will my grandchildren will hear about for years to come. The picture of my son holding his first Steelhead and I standing with the boat as a backdrop have replaced my beloved retriever as my wallpaper on my computer screen at the office. This trip, Chris the guide, the weather and the Manistee River backdrop was more than any fisherman could ask for. Thanks Ben for making a wonderful memory and providing Chris as our Master of Ceremonies. Jr. wants to come back in October to experience the Manistee and the fall Steelhead run. Thanks for the wonderful memories and the great fishing."

Steelhead on the Betsie River.

My first trip to the Betsie River to chase steelhead was hosted by Captain Chad Dilts. We had tough conditions in early November (too early and record heavy rains the week before), but we managed three solid hook-ups and landed two. I fished with an old friend from California and he managed to boat a great chrome bright fresh steelhead to set his PR. The fish was like a rocket, up- and down-river on multiple lightning-fast long runs. So fun. The fish I managed to land was smaller but very acrobatic. Minor miracle the fish got to the net because it was hooked between two downed trees. Somehow Chad managed to position the boat to land the fish. Great boat skills.

Captain Chad had some of the best sandwiches for lunch. Also with some deer jerky that was terrific. I cannot recommend this Guide Company, Wolfe Outfitters, and Captain Chad highly enough. Best fishing ever.
